About Me

My name is David, a composer and sound designer from Scotland with a long background in music. My journey began with playing guitar, though I truly found a home in bass, studying and performing in venues such as the Classic Grand, Stereo and the Savings Bank in Glasgow.I gained an HND in Music from Glasgow Clyde College, and I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Music Technology from the University of the West of Scotland. It was a combination of  studying, watching tv shows and movies, and playing tons of video games throughout my life that solidified the fact that my true passion in the industry was composition and sound design.Throughout my years of learning composition and sound design, I have been involved in many projects through different disciplines of the audio industry, from starting off learning live sound production, then moving on to teaching myself how to design soundscapes for tv, film and games. This website contains my portfolio, with all of my achievements and projects that I've been involved in throughout my journey into sound design.

Short Films

Lime To Die

Lime To Die was a short film project created by myself and 5 other classmates as part of our Digital Filmmaking class, in which we were given a genre of short film to pitch, then later film and create as our final project. The story follows 6 fruit-related students in a tense murder mystery, in which the class clown, Luka Lime, has been pied, and nobody knows who did it. The short is a combination of multiple elements, from a crime thriller to a slapstick comedy.I was the editor, both audio and visuals, as well as being an actor within the film itself. I ensured that the story flowed seamlessly through the cuts made in post, as well as choosing appropriate music for each scene.

Elephants Dream

In my Audio for Film and Animation class, our final group project was to record and integrate our own dialogue, sound effects and soundtrack into a short film called "Elephants Dream." I and 2 of my close friends, Kieran and James worked together, each taking on a different role, with me being designated to develop the soundtrack. I also helped with the recording of sound effects, using out of the box methods like using multiple guitar pedals through an electric viola to create sounds that matched the surrealist and abstract atmosphere of the Machine.Elephants dream is a Blender short film created in 2006 by director Bassam Kurdali. It follows 2 main characters, Emo and Proog as they try to make their way safely through what is only known as "the Machine."
